Big Square

It is the ideal place to discover the traditional Romanian rural life through a relaxing walk. The 10 km of alleys will walk you among authentic peasant households, workshops, wooden churches, trout, sheep, wineries, water, and windmills. The original interiors so well-preserved, you can instantly feel the simple life of Romanian peasants from all over the country, their occupations, and traditions. Beyond the wonderful rural universe, the museum also offers various recreational possibilities: boat trips, horse-drawn carriage and sleigh rides, a restaurant, accommodation, a tourist information center and playgrounds. The lush vegetation helps people breathe fresh air, but also ignore the usual bustle of the city for a few minutes or hours. The open-air museum covers an area of 96 ha, of which the actual exhibition covers 42 hectares. The museum has a Multicultural Museum Pavilion, with tourist information desk included, two restaurants, two pensions, a playground, 4 parking lots, over 10 km of alleys, numerous stalls, spaces for practical demonstrations and many other items to make their stay as pleasant as possible.
